PORTRAIT OF
OKSANA PRÜFER

2019 | oil on canvas | 30 X 41 CM | 11.8" x 16.1"

A commissioned portrait received and realised in the early summer of 2019.

The portrayed woman is depicted turning her head and looking over her shoulder at the viewer. Her figure is positioned diagonally, to form a line reaching from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. The pose was chosen to draw attention to her long blonde hair, which is tucked into the back of her raw silk dress that is draped to fill the entire lower part of the canvas. It's shape complements the oversized petals in the background, identifying her as part of the flower. The colour scheme chosen for the portrait is kept in light shades of pink, only broken by a splash of vibrant pink at the tip of a petal that is otherwise obscured by the figure in the lower left corner. The light and soft colours enhance the portrayed's fair complexion, her bright blue eyes and the lightness of her hair. The blue of her eyes and the yellow tones of her hair are also reflected in the different hues of  the flower petal placed behind her head.

The framing was chosen in regard to the commissioners interior, which is predominately modern, minimal and purist in style and held in a colour palette that ranges from white to light grey and beige. To match the furniture in the apartment, a minimalist white frame was chosen, complemented by a white cardboard mount to create space between the frame and the painting itself. The cutting edge was then gilded to give the framing a subtle touch of decadence.
